Our firm’s January 26, 2024 Law Alert reported on the proposed amendment to the Paid Leave Ordinance that was presented to the Cook County Board of Commissioners. The amendment, if passed, expressly excludes school districts and park districts from the Paid Leave Ordinance.

On February 28, 2024, the Legislation and Intergovernmental Relations Committee deferred voting on the amendment until the March 13 Rules Committee meeting. This means that the amendment has not yet passed and no further action will be taken until at least March 13. In the meantime, we understand that application of the Ordinance will not be enforced with regard to school districts and park districts. We will provide a further update after March 13, 2024.
