More Data, More Responsibility: Navigating Data Retention and Privacy in K-12 Education
As schools increasingly rely on digital tools and platforms to support teaching, learning, and administration, they are also collecting and storing more data than ever before. This data often contains student records and other sensitive, personally identifiable information that is subject to FERPA, SOPPA, and other privacy laws. This session explored the often-overlooked topic of data retention within the broader context of student data privacy and will address legal considerations that schools must consider, as well as strategies for compliance.
