ISBE Model Bullying Prevention Policy Now Available

On June 9, 2023, Public Act 103-0047 was passed, adding new requirements to schools’ bullying prevention and response obligations. Pursuant to the new requirements, schools must adopt a policy based on the Illinois State Board of Education’s template for a model bullying prevention policy. ISBE’s model template and associated guidance document was recently released and is now available on ISBE’s website.

On April 19, 2024, the U.S. Department of Education under President Biden’s Administration released its regulations implementing Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. The 2024 Regulations, which went into effect on August 1, 2024, significantly changed the Title IX regulations that were implemented under President Trump’s Administration in 2020.
