Special Education
Educational institutions are responsible for ensuring all students with disabilities are provided with a free appropriate public education. State and federal special education regulations place heightened legal obligations on educational institutions with respect to educating students with disabilities, which includes complying with specific procedures in the delivery of educational services to students.
Our special education team is well-versed in every aspect of special education law, providing comprehensive guidance and advocacy to help schools navigate complex legal requirements and support students with disabilities effectively.
Our special education attorneys are well-versed in all aspects of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (“IDEA”) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and institutions’ obligations to students with unique learning needs. We assist schools in meeting these obligations, providing day-to-day advisement, attending IEP and Section 504 meetings as legal representatives to the schools, and assisting staff in developing legally sound policies and procedures. Our attorneys also represent schools in mediation and complex due process hearings when parents proceed with formal legal challenges.
